If you would like to hire the rooms for a meeting, family celebration or party, please first look at availability on the ‘Calendar’ tab. If the hall/snug is available, please read the details below and complete the booking form, we will do our best to get back to you within 48 hours.

“We hired the Tolleshunt Major village hall for our 40th Wedding Anniversary for about 35 people. The Hall was perfect for our use for an afternoon tea family and friends get together, the hall was very modern, the facilities were marvellous , easily accessible table and chairs and the added bonus of direct access from the hall to the local park for the kids. Please ensure that you check the Calendar to confirm availability before completing the booking form.

The rooms can be hired at a rate of £14 per hour for the Hall and £11 per hour for the Snug.

For residents of Tolleshunt Major or Little Totham there are reduced rates of £12 and £9.

A damages deposit of £50 is required for private events.

Hire costs and damages deposit to be paid in full at the time of booking. The booking will then be confirmed by email and entered into the Calendar.

Regular hiring, charity events and local clubs may be priced by arrangement.

  • The major hall can hold up to a maximum of 50 people for a seated meal.
  • AV equipment is available for hire if you are looking for a training venue.
  • The kitchen can be used when hiring either the major hall or snug.
  • We have tables, chairs, crockery, cutlery & glassware for use on the premises.
  • We have a number of trestle tables (6ft x 2ft 6″, 183cm x 76cm) that can be hired for private use.
  • Indoor Trestle tables £3 each per 24hrs, upto 8 tables.
  • Indoor chairs £2 each per 24hrs, upto 10 chairs.
  • Outdoor White tables £15 per 24hrs, upto 7 tables and 30 chairs.

There is parking available for those using the hall. The bollards can be lowered to allow up to 4 cars to be parked by the front door of the hall. In addition there is a lit pathway from the hall to the car park in the playing field behind the hall. The path lights can be controlled by the hirer within the hall.

There is access from the Hall to the playing field behind, however the playing field does not form a part of the hire and is a public space. Please ensure that alcohol, glasses etc are not taken from the hall onto the playing field.

    • The total hiring fee and the damage deposit should accompany this booking form, the damage deposit will be quoted on booking if required.

    • All cheques should be made payable to Tolleshunt Major PCC & given to Sarah Case, Woodlarks, Beckingham Street, Tolleshunt Major, CM9 8NB.

      • On line payments are preferred and should be made to: Bank: Barclays Bank Account Name: Tolleshunt Major PCC, Sort Code 20 97 40, a/c no: 10889261, please add your name and hire date as a reference.

    • If the hirer is intending to stage a profit-making event, the hirer is responsible for obtaining an events licence. A copy must be provided before the event and the original displayed at the hall.

    • Please note that you should allow for setting up and clearing away within your hire time. The hall must be left as you find it, if the kitchen is used and the oven needs to be a cleaned after use, a fee of £60 will be charged.

    • By signing this booking form you are agreeing to abide by the conditions of hire attached.
